A refuge from the storm

Shelters

"For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe. I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings. For you, God, have heard my vows; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name."

Psalm 61:3-5

Women & Children's Shelter

The 17-unit Emergency Shelter is a temporary shelter providing relief from physical trauma. This may be from a fire, eviction, or escape from domestic violence. Relief is provided by meeting the physical, spiritual, and material needs of each client. Women and their children who find themselves homeless as a result of an unexpected catastrophe are welcomed.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

The Children’s Ministry provides a safe and loving environment in which children can thrive physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

Transitional Living

Valley Rescue Mission offers a Transitional Living Program (TLP) for men experiencing homelessness. The program is designed to transition men from homelessness to permanent housing in a safe, sober, Christian environment. Men admitted into the program have complete access to hot showers, three meals per day, laundry facilities, a computer lab, and so much more.

Men are expected to work, attend classes and take advantage of resources in place to assist in the acquisition of permanent residency.

River Ministry

Some of the homeless population in our community remain unsheltered by choice. Our Mission seeks to help those living underneath bridges, in abandoned buildings, or in the woods.

Food, water, blankets, minor medical supplies may be delivered but above all, we strive to bring them hope.

Hope that this is not all that life has to offer them

Hope that there are caring people in the world

Hope that their future can be brighter than their past or present. Relationships are built, and from time to time, one of these men will leave an unhealthy life in the elements to turn to the services the Mission has to offer and the God we represent.

Family Services

The Family Services Ministry provides food, cold weather coats, and vouchers for other assistance. For more information call (706) 322-8267 (Ext. 207).

My Story

John Smith

September 2023

My name is John, and I want to share my story about how Valley Rescue Mission helped me. I was stuck in addiction, and it was ruining my life. But then I found out about this place called Valley Rescue Mission in Columbus, Georgia.

I decided to give it a shot. It wasn't easy, but I was tired of addiction controlling me. At Valley Rescue Mission, they helped me a lot. They had counseling, chapel services, and classes to help me get better.

Now, I'm not the same person I used to be. Valley Rescue Mission gave me hope and a second chance. They saved my life, and I'm really grateful for that. I want others to know that recovery is possible, especially with the right support.

Valley Rescue Mission changed my life. My story is proof that things can get better.
