As summer's vibrant colors fade, a transformation unfolds. The world around us will soon shift into warm oranges, deep reds, and golden yellows, creating a beautiful backdrop for change. This seasonal change mirrors the powerful transformations happening at the Valley Rescue Mission in Columbus, GA. Just as nature prepares for something new, the lives of those who turn to this essential community resource also begin to change.


The transition from summer to fall is a time of reflection and renewal. At Valley Rescue Mission, individuals facing homelessness and hardship find a safe space where they can begin to rebuild their lives. At Valley Rescue Mission, the spirit of collaboration shines bright as volunteers unite to provide meals and support to those in need. This collective effort reflects the changing seasons. Just as nature thrives through interconnectedness, so too do the lives of those at the mission. In 2024, volunteers contributed in many ways to support mission activities, including bible studies, social activities, parenting classes, sewing classes, financial classes, administrative services, retail assistance, helping to provide meals through service, delivery or with cleaning up around the mission. These are a few ways Columbus is proving that the community is stronger together.


As the days shorten and the air cools, the mission hosts various events that promote belonging for the clients and community. From community dinners to skill-building workshops and bibibical studies, these gatherings offer individuals the chance to connect, share, and inspire one another. The most beautiful of all of the annual statistics in 2024 was seeing the how the opportunities offered at the mission, by both staff and volunteers, to spread the word of Jesus Christ, opened the door for 275 professions of faith. The warmth of these interactions is a powerful reminder that transformations are not solitary journeys; they grow through the support of others.
