The historic Camp Joy has been given new life, transformed into a place of purpose and productivity once again. Through the dedication and hard work of the men in Crossroads, Phase Two of the Men’s Addiction Recovery Program at Valley Rescue Mission, the old camp now stands as a space where healing, learning, and growth take root.  

  At the heart of this transformation is Jakob Staley, a veteran and cherished graduate of Valley Rescue Mission, who now leads our shops with vision and compassion. Jakob has taken a dream and shaped it into a program that not only teaches practical skills but also instills pride, discipline, and hope. His commitment to excellence ensures that every project incorporates both creativity and safety, setting a strong foundation for success.  

  This program offers more than woodworking or small engine repair—it teaches that with patience, effort, and care, something broken can be reshaped into something beautiful and useful. That truth lies at the very core of our mission: to show our clients that no matter how lost or broken they may feel, God has a purpose for their lives. Just as wood is carved or a machine is rebuilt, God can restore lives with love and intention.  

In these shops, men are not only creating projects—they are building confidence, forming bonds, and discovering the joy of hard work. The lessons learned here extend far beyond the walls of the Small Engine and Woodworking Shops, equipping them to restore relationships with family, friends, and the community. The shops are more than workshops; they are places of hope.
